How we cut average page load time by 40 percent
Moving the shared hosting fleet to NVMe storage and enabling object caching by default changed the numbers more than any single tuning pass we have done.
What actually moved the needle
Storage latency was the first bottleneck; the second was uncached database queries in popular plugins. Neither is exotic, and both are measurable from the control panel.
